ADHD Testing FAQs

Short answers to the questions parents ask most before booking ADHD testing.

Is there a single test for ADHD?

No. ADHD is diagnosed by putting together a developmental history, direct testing of attention and related skills, and reports from home and school. That's also how other explanations get ruled in or out.

What ages do you test?

Children, teens and young adults ages 5 to 22.

How long does ADHD testing take?

Testing is one full day in person. A full evaluation plus the written report typically takes two to three weeks.

Is testing in person?

Yes, testing is in person at 353 Lexington Ave in Manhattan. The consultation and feedback session can be in person or by video.

Will you check for learning disabilities and anxiety too?

Yes. The evaluation tests reading, writing, math, memory, language, and social and emotional functioning along with attention, because these conditions often look like ADHD or occur alongside it.

Do you prescribe ADHD medication?

No. Dr. Tutty is a psychologist. The report is written so your child's pediatrician or psychiatrist can use it in treatment decisions.

Will the report help with a 504 plan or IEP?

Yes. Recommendations are written to support school accommodations and planning, including 504 plans and IEPs.

Do you take insurance?

The practice doesn't bill insurance directly. You receive paid invoices with insurance codes to submit for reimbursement at your insurer's contracted rate.

Is there financial help?

One needs-based scholarship evaluation is offered each quarter. It follows exactly the same process as a fee-for-service evaluation.

Do you accept referrals from pediatricians and schools?

Yes.
